Zoe Kamil is a playwright, student, and theatre artist hailing from San Francisco and currently located in New York City. Her plays have been workshopped and produced at Young Playwrights Inc. (NYC), The Playwrights Project (San Diego), and The Blank Theatre (LA), among others. In August 2016, her play #Blessed will make its NYC and world premieres in the New York International Fringe Festival.
She is a winner of the 2014 Young Playwrights Inc. National Competition, the 2014 Blank Theatre's National Young Playwrights Competition, and the 2013 California Young Playwrights Contest, among others. Her writing has been featured in the Proscenium Journal and on Howlround.com. Additionally, her essay "Interconnectedness" was published as part of Gabrielle Glancy's anthology The Best College Essays of 2014. As the Associate Director of Semicolon Theatre Company, an organization dedicated to the development of new work by and for young adults (run entirely by theatre artists age 21 and younger), she has co-produced two seasons of Off-Off Broadway premieres at Access Theatre and the Kraine Theatre in NYC, respectively. Zoe is pursuing a BA in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Writing for the Stage at Marymount Manhattan College. |
