SUN HEE KIL is a New York City based sound designer/engineer from South Korea. Currently associate professor of Sound Design at the Department of Theatre Arts, State University of New York at New Paltz. She served as associate sound designer at the Opening and Closing ceremonies of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in South Korea and Bernhardt/Hamlet (Broadway), Choir Boy (Broadway), Rose Tattoo (Broadway), Take Me Out (Broadway), Dreamgirls (International Tour).
Her sound design includes Off-Broadway: Flipside: The Patti Page Story (59E59), Ominous Men (MultiStages), Removal (Manhattan Repertory Theater), International: Caffeine (Roppongi Blue Theatre, Tokyo, Japan), Takeoff 2015 (Taipei National Theatre, Taiwan), Solitary Musicians (Seoul, South Korea). She also served as sound liaison to mount Broadway’s Kinky Boots and West End’s Bodyguard to Seoul, South Korea. A1 for Korean premier of Jekyll & Hyde, Grease (National Theatre of Korea), Little Shop of Horrors, and Japanese Convoy Show. Her 3D Mapping Project on Brooklyn Library, Brooklyn Gaze (co-designed with Brad Ward), was selected as USA exhibition for Prague Quadrennial 2019 and the Recipient of Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival Outstanding Sound Design National Award for Flipside: The Patti Page Story, 2012.
