    SAVIANA STANESCU is a Romanian-born award-winning playwright and ARTivist based in New York/Ithaca. Her produced US plays include Aliens with extraordinary skills, Ants (both published by Samuel French), Useless, Toys, For a Barbarian Woman, Bechnya, Polanski Polanski, Lenin’s Shoe, Waxing West (2007 NY Innovative Theatre Award), What Happens Next. Honors include: Fulbright, NYTW Usual Suspect, EST member, Indie Theater Hall of Fame, NYSCA playwright-in-residence - Women’s Project, TCG New Leaders, Women International Leadership, writer-in-residence for Richard Schechner, Audrey Residency - New Georges, Director of International Exchange – Lark, John Golden Award for Playwriting Goldberg Award Finalist, O’Neill Finalist, Yale Drama Series Runner-Up, MacLaine Artist-in-Residence, KulturKontakt Vienna Fellow, Best Romanian Play of the Year 2000 UNITER Award. 

    ​MA in Performance Studies, MFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU, Tisch. Saviana teaches Playwriting & Contemporary Theatre at Ithaca College and is the founder of Immigrant Artists and Scholars in New York (IASNY). www.saviana.com
