    ROS PHILIPS is a freelance theatre director and tutor specialising in movement. She is also Associate Artist with Sphinx Theatre. For Sphinx, Ros created ‘The Sphinx Test’ (theatres Bechtel Test) as part of the Women Centre Stage Festival, now used in Schools and Colleges across the UK. 

    Previous directing: for the Queens Theatre Hornchurch: Educating Rita’, Our House’ (Community Musical), ‘Whistle While You Work’ devised piece in association with Women's Stories Of Ford Dagenham exhibition, Write Night 2016. Elsewhere: The House Of Bernarda Alba (Royal Scottish Academy) Midsummer, She Town - movement director (Dundee Rep), One Million Tiny Plays About Britain, Top Girls (Citizens Theatre Glasgow), Falling/Flying (The Tron, Glasgow), Cured (Glasgay), I Heart Maths (A Play, A Pie, & A Pint), Fragile (Cockpit), The Sonnetteer (Greensides Edinburgh). 

    New Writing: Ros regularly collaborates with writers including: Stef Smith, Craig Taylor and James Ley. 

    Ros is a regular visiting director for Rose Bruford Theatre School and The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. 

    In 2011 Ros set up ‘RT Productions’ directing and producing the sell out Edinburgh Fringe Production of ‘One Million Tiny Plays About Britain’, funded by Made in Scotland, produced in association with The Citizens Theatre, Sponsored by White Stuff on George Street. RT Productions built a venue in the shop to great public and critical acclaim, receiving the much coveted ‘sell out show’ emblem from the Festival office.

    In Spring 2018 Ros will be directing ‘A Bright New Boise’ for LAMDA. She is also developing a series of ‘silent Shakespeare’ workshops for contemporary Shakespeare practice.
