jean sonderand - lighting designer, projection designer
they/them/theirs
JEAN SONDERAND (they/them) is a new media artist working to adapt scholarship to intimacy and thought to expression. Their practice is a cross-genre excursion attempting to unravel things that seem knotted up. Jean believes collaboration is the heart of something important and prefers to work among others.
As a member of The Illuminator, Jean staged large scale projection interventions nationally. In collaboration with numerous non-profit and grassroots organizations, these guerrilla projections illuminated the facades of private and public institutions, including the United Nations, Union Square, The Washington Monument, the Guggenheim, numerous diplomatic offices, and the headquarters of major pharmaceutical companies. In addition to this political work, Jean has acted as curator, designer, and prijection mapper for numerous theatrical and artistic productions, at Lincoln Center, The Shed, HERE Arts Center, and Judson Memorial Church. Jean’s work in photographic and filmic documentation can be seen at their commercial website: www.archiveculture.com REFERENCES: Carson Parish, Producer MoMA Film Department Anne Senstad, Artist at Large |
