JANE COX is a lighting designer for theater, music and dance. Last season’s designs included August Wilson’s Jitney and the musical Amelie on Broadway; the new play Roe in theaters nationwide and Othello at NYTW. Other recent designs included Hamlet with Benedict Cumberbatch; The Flick by Annie Baker and Color Purple, Machinal and All the Way on Broadway.
Jane has been nominated for several Lortels and Drama Desks and for two Tonys. She was awarded the Ruth Morley Design Award by LPTW in 2016 and the Hewes Award in 2014. Jane is a twenty year company member of the Monica Bill Barnes Dance Company and has an ongoing relationship with OSF and CSC. In 2016, Jane became director of the theater program at Princeton University, where she has focused on engaging more diverse communities; on relationships between arts and sciences; and on deepening student relationships with new playwriting and with music.
