EMILY DAVIS writes and directs for Messenger Theatre Company, which she co-founded and runs. SEEING INSIDE was performed at St. Ann’s Warehouse for Labapalooza. THE DOOR WAS OPEN was developed with a space grant from Flushing Town Hall. Her plays PERSEPHONE and THE GREAT GOD MONEY were selected for FringeNYC. Other plays include: FIG. A: THE HEART, THE LAST AMERICAN COWBOY, MYTHELLANEOUS, THE KITCHEN PLAY, THE GOLDEN APPLE: FOR THE FAIREST, THE DIVINE BOVINE TREE, THE WAITING ROOM and DAUGHTERS OF MEMORY. She has directed at Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre, The Arcola in London with Helena Kaut-Howson on YERMA (starring Kathryn Hunter) and with Mark Ravenhill on NURSERY/SCHOOL.
Emily completed her MFA in Dramatic Art at University of California, Davis. She won the International Performing Arts for Youth Colleen Porter Resident Artist Award and is a semi-finalist for the Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center National Playwrights Conference.
