ELIZABETH HESS’ acclaimed solo work has travelled the globe as well as appeared Off-Broadway and also in NY - SPOLIED at SUNY Conference on Masculinities and DUST TO DUST at the UN Conference on Gender Violence. LIVING OPENLY & NOTORIOUSLY, a solo trilogy, also won awards abroad. INTERNALLY DISPLACED, an ensemble piece, was conceived / directed in Kosovo. Her new company, THE HESS COLLECTIVE, has several works in development - LOVE TRADE, a cross-cultural performance piece and SCARBERIA, ten prose/poems.
Elizabeth has worked extensively in both New York and regional theaters. Her TV and film credits include starring roles in Clarissa Explains It All and many Indie films. Her book, ACTING & BEING: Explorations in Embodied Experience is based on her hybrid approach culled over 15 years of teaching acting/playwriting primarily at NYU, Fordham, NTI and internationally.
