CALVIN ANDERSON is a lighting and projection designer based in Brooklyn, New York. They have designed and toured with dance, theater, opera, musical theater, fashion, and live music. Select work in New York have been seen at Brooklyn Academy of Music, HERE Arts, The Joyce, NYLA, Ailey Citigroup Theater, 13th Street Repertory, Park Avenue Armory, Symphony Space, and many others.
Select US and international projects include working with Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Toronto Fringe Festival, Spoleto Festival USA, Jacob’s Pillow, Chester Theatre, Connecticut Repertory Theatre, City Theater (Pittsburgh), The Pittsburgh Playhouse, and Perseverance Theatre (Alaska). International tours include Canada, Germany, Italy, France, Poland, Bulgaria, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, Botswana and Lebanon.
Calvin is a visiting assistant professor at Wesleyan University, and has given talks about lighting to numerous academic institutions, globally. He is also resident lighting and projections designer and production manager for FJK Dance. For the past year, Calvin has also had the pleasure of working with The Bearded Ladies Cabaret as Production Manager.
Calvin holds an MFA for lighting and projection design from the University of Connecticut, where they were a graduate assistant. He also holds a BFA from Point Park University in Technical Theater. Calvin is a proud member of Wingspace Design Collective and United Scenic Artists Local 829.
