AMY SUTTON is a costume designer based in the New York area. Her love of reading, fashion & old movies are a constant inspiration for her work as a costume designer.
She believes that collaboration is key to creating a strong & clear visual message through design. The hours spent finding the perfect research images & conversations discussing the little details are some of her favorite parts about designing. The transformative nature of costume design allows her to combine big gestures with small details to realize each character. She received an MFA in Costume Design from UC San Diego and a BFA in Theater, with a minor in Art History, from NYU, Tisch School of the Arts. She is a member of United Scenic Artists, USA Local 829. She has worked as a designer & assistant designer with theater companies around the country. Some credits include:Summer Shorts (’16 - ’19, 59E59, NY), Pride & Prejudice (Creede Repertory Theatre), Halcyon Days (Oberon Theater Ensemble, NYC), Orwell in America (Northern Stage, VT /59E59, NY), The Hound of the Baskervilles (Northern Stage, VT) .
