With roots in the Philippines and Romania, AMANDA L. ANDREI hails from Virginia/Washington D.C. and currently resides in Los Angeles. Her plays include Black Sky (Winner of 2020 Parity Prize; Madison New Works Lab; Finalist 2020 Burnham Award; Semifinalist 2019 Screencraft Stage Play Competition; Finalist 2020 New American Voices Festival), Lena Passes By (Finalist 2021 O'Neill, Semi-finalist 2021 Ashland Festival); Culture Night; Hecuba; and Mama, I wish I were silver.
Her plays have been read and/or developed by Echo Theatre, The Vagrancy, Pasadena Playhouse, Playwrights Arena, La MaMa, Artists at Play, Son of Semele, Relative Theatrics, Bucharest Inside the Beltway, La-Ti-Do, and others. Her screenplay, Lake Opaque, has been workshopped by the Southeastern European Film Festival (SEEFest) Accelerator Program. Amanda is a member of the Echo Writer's Lab and Dramatists Guild of America. She has been a resident with VONA, Atlantic Center for the Arts, Sewanee Writers Conference, Fresh Ground Pepper Retreat, and Dorland Arts Colony.
