      PARITY PRODUCTIONS
The Parity Database logo. A white recangle with an orange border. Text in orange and black inside the rectangle reads the parity database. Text in orange on the left side and underneath the rectangle reads a free database of women and trans and gender-expansive playwrights, directors, and designers work in NYC theatre

     THE PARITY DATABASE

As we've evolved our gender language—embracing the term trans and gender-expansive in place of
trans and gender nonconforming/TGNC—The Women and TGNC Artists Database is now The Parity Database.
Simple, easy to remember, and still here to serve you. Thanks for your support of our name change.
"When putting together a team for a new show, Parity Productions' [The Parity Database] is usually my first stop. They've made it very easy to find many qualified artists in just about every discipline. It saves so much time to have one source to visit rather than spending hours Googling and asking colleagues for recommendations, and it has introduced me to some wonderful colleagues I might not have known about or found on my own."

    Parity Productions’ The Parity Database:
    • Creates visibility for women, trans, and gender-expansive playwrights, directors, and designers working in professional theatre in New York City.
    • Provides a free online tool for artistic leaders who seek to create more equitable hiring practices for creative teams.
    • So that more New York City productions meet our 50% gender parity hiring standard for creative teams.
GET NOTICED FOR NEW PROJECTS WITH A FREE PROFILE.
To be a part of our database, you must be a theatre artist who has worked on at least one production in New York City in the discipline that will be listed on your profile. For example, if you identify as a performer and playwright, you must have had at least one production in NYC of your work as a playwright. If you identify as a director and a playwright, you must have NYC credits in both fields to be listed under both disciplines in the database.

Artists in our database are also added to a closed group on Facebook where they can network and share opportunities.
    A note about profile organization:
We have chosen to organize profiles in The Parity Database by union/guild/society/organization membership in an effort to facilitate the hiring process for producers seeking job candidates, on the recommendation of our industry colleagues. We recognize that union membership or lack thereof comes, in many cases, with certain financial and reputational implications, and want to state here, clearly and publicly, that this feature of our database is not a judgment on the professionalism of artists working at any level in theatre.
